Food and Relaxation

Henry Manor has been transformed into a bed-and-breakfast inn.

In 2000, caterers Kay and Wayne Williams decided they were tired of loading their truck and putting on parties hither and yon.

So they decided to host the festivities in their own home.

That’s when they bought Henry Manor, a restored brick Tuscan-style home built in 1869. The manor, set on 9.3 acres, now doubles as a bed-and-breakfast inn, as well as a site for special events. Business for the catering couple has been good, says Wayne Williams.

“The best part is serving people good food and watching them enjoy it,” he says. “If it weren’t fun, I wouldn’t do it.

If people didn’t like the food, I would quit tomorrow.”

At Henry Manor, B&B visitors have options not found in most similar setups, such as choosing their own breakfast menus and dining times. As with every room in the house, the two guest bedrooms are complete with fireplaces and antique furniture.

Williams says his customer profile is across the board: vacationers coming to see the changing of the leaves; people celebrating anniversaries; and folks who come to Henry Manor just to come to Henry Manor.

The events vary as much as the fare. There are weddings and the occasions surrounding them, corporate get-togethers, Christmas parties, luncheons and tea parties, and family functions. Again, customers have choices.

“We have fixed menus for every type of function,” Williams says. “But if you don’t like to do that, tell me what you want and it’s yours.”
