Location
Lancaster is in south-central Ohio, about 30 miles southeast of Columbus.
Beginnings
Col. Ebenezar Zane, a famous pioneer and trailblazer, founded Lancaster in November 1800. The town was originally named New Lancaster until the name was shortened in 1805. Lancaster was incorporated in 1831.
